Video Inspiration #3

Hey everyone!

It's been a while, but we're back with some more video inspiration! For the last month or so, we've been preparing for a huge docu-style, cinematic brand video campaign and we wanted to share some pieces that we've been studying that has inspired us lately.

Enjoy!

WHY I GIVE: THE SENTERS // ELEVATION CHURCH

What really caught our eye about "Why I Give" is their clever use of displaying the interviews on TV screens, within the space that the interviewees are referencing. It allows us to really get into the mindset of the character and experience their story with them as they take us through the journey. A new and creative way to make interviews more visually interesting.

THE Y: IDLE HANDS // KANKAKEE AREA YMCA

"Idle Hands" immediately catches your eye, and ears, with their use of natural sounds and ambience within their handheld, documentary style visuals. The motif of hands throughout the piece is heavily emphasized and is effective in making a connection to each individual that shows on the screen.

THE NEW YORKER: NINE IN NINETY // STACEY LEE

"Nine in Ninety" is clever in it's use of creating interested interviews without any b-roll. They rarely repeat camera angles, creating a unique feel for each interviewee. On top of that, the production design for each person is unique in that it puts the character in an artificial version of a space we would normally find them in. We feel like we are invading their own space, adding that extra layer of relatability.

NZINGA // ANDERSON WRIGHT

Within the first 10 seconds, "NZINGA" reels you in with its impressive visuals. The visuals and voiceover, led by Nzinga herself allow us to connect with her on a personal level after just 5 minutes. It's personal and inspirational, one of my absolute favorite case studies i've seen in a long time.

AMERICA'S ENERGY // EXXONMOBIL

We've been really inspired lately by the use of moving portraits in pieces we've watched and "America's Energy" is a great example of that. It puts the focus on the motive of the company or campaign and puts it on the people that are apart of it. We were also inspired by their use of holding signs with textual information on it, rather than the obvious technique of graphics on the screen.
