OVERVIEW

In late 2018, Oxenfree had the opportunity to collaborate with Pete Gill to create a cinematic Brand Story for the highly popular Born & Bread Bakehouse, a bakery located in the heart of Lakeland, FL. Over the weeks of Pre-Production, we embedded ourselves into the culture of their business, to better understand their story in order to capture it.

PROBLEM

Oxenfree & Pete Gill worked with the owner, Jenn Smurr to bring their creation story of Born & Bread to screen. Her story of hard work and dedication gave our story a backbone as we focused on why & how Born & Bread has become what we see today.

SOLUTION

We start off by introducing Born & Bread by showcasing hands crafting and kneading the dough. We see Jenn mixing, kneading, and icing baked goods as she describes her honeymoon as being the inspiration behind her start to baking. We then introduce the team she has accumulated over the years of business. The film follows the shop from open to close on a Saturday, from the peace of prep work to the hustle and bustle once the shop opens to the public. Next, we focus on the environment and interactions between the team and guests. The idea of creating an interaction that is inviting and inspiring comes to fruition as we see Jenn interacting with customers and acknowledging the success of the day. 

RESULT

This film was created to premiere on the 4th anniversary of the shop being open. Born & Bread posted and shared the video on their Facebook page along with showing it at their anniversary party. This allowed the people who constantly support Born & Bread to witness this story in person, allowing them to create memories of this event in conjunction with the video. Since its premiere, The Story of Born & Bread has been viewed and shared over 23,000 times.
